2011 Sponsorship Information for the 3rd Annual
RED RIVER DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL

The Red River Dragon Boat Festival is a community-wide event that combines dragon boat racing with fund-raising for civic projects supported by the Rotary Club of Shreveport.
Dragon boat teams from across the region travel to Shreveport to participate in this exciting sporting event growing in popularity in the United States. Twenty paddlers sit two-by-two in a 41-foot boat with the team’s drummer sitting on the bow beating out the cadence of the strokes. A trained boat steersperson is provided on every boat at the event. Every year, an estimated 50 million people from 40 countries participate in the sport of dragon boat racing. Now in its third year, the Red River Dragon Boat Festival brings this excitement to Shreveport on September 10, 2011.
The Rotary Club of Shreveport supports the community using proceeds from the event to fund projects in the areas of education, social services, and community development. Projects are selected by the membership and through a competitive grant process administered by a standing committee of the Rotary Club of Shreveport. Proceeds from the 2010 Red River Dragon Boat Festival totaling $28,887 were awarded to the following organizations:
- Caddo Council on Aging to purchase soft side hot boxes for the agency’s Meals on Wheels program.
- Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse of Northwest Louisiana to purchase mattresses and linens for 24 beds in the Veterans Recovery Center.
- Providence House to expand educational resources at the homeless shelter through the purchase of supplemental reading books, basic supplies for an academic classroom and software for the shelter’s Working to Learn program.
- Rutherford House to replace an engine analyzer and related software in the Rutherford House Auto Shop which teaches court-placed students the basics of auto repair.
- Community Renewal to purchase picnic tables and playground equipment for the Highland Friendship Houses.
- Northwest Louisiana Food Bank to purchase boxes to be used to distribute food to senior citizens living below the poverty level.
· Caddo Parish Schools education initiatives.
SPONSORSHIP LEVELS FOR THE 2011 FESTIVAL
- BOAT SPONSOR – only 6 available – $5,000
o Your logo or company name will be affixed on a boat which will race all day during the event. Each time a racing heat is announced via loudspeaker, YOUR COMPANY NAME will be heard festival-wide.
o Paid entry for one team in the event, including team t-shirts and team tent.
o Recognition in ALL print advertising placed by the Festival.
o Company name displayed on the Main Stage.
o Company name and/or logo on festival t-shirts (graphic file must be provided no later than August 15, 2011).
o Live recognition during the festival ceremonies.

- FESTIVAL SPONSOR – $2,000
o Your choice of one of the following 3:
1. Paid entry for one team in the event, including team t-shirts and team tent.
2. Your company name prominently displayed on the Leader Board and on a banner in the area where the teams gather immediately before they race (only one available).
3. Your company name prominently displayed on a banner in the food court area (only three available).
o Recognition in ALL print advertising placed by the Festival.
o Recognition on sponsor board displayed prominently on Main Stage.
o Company name displayed on one of the tents provided to the teams.
o Name listing on festival t-shirts.
o Live recognition during the festival ceremonies.
